For the last couple of weeks in Te Ngahere we've been making New Zealand weather reports but in Te Reo Maori. Before we made our weather report we had to get into pairs and my buddy’s name was Yazmin. First we had to follow the success criteria and make a script. We had to chose six places around New Zealand so Yazmin and I picked Kaikoura, Tāmaki - Makaurau (Auckland), Ōtautahi (Christchurch), Te - Papa - i - ōea (Palmerston North), Taupō, and Whanganui a Tara (Wellington). After we had done our script we made a little animation. We used funko pop to create our characters. We had to have a map of New Zealand but the places names had to be in Te Reo Maori. We made our screencastify and there were some problems but then we got it done. Do you think Te Reo maori should be our first language in New Zealand or second?

Our Fabulous Fantastic Cross Country!
Last term we had a whole school event which was CROSS COUNTRY! Some people met the school down at Bledisloe Domain. My sisters and my mum took me down and I was so scared. At first it was cold and I didn’t want to get out of my car but I had to. Some of the teachers came with some of the students and then the bus came and all the little kids looked so excited BUT I WASN’T! When they all hopped off the bus we sat down on the mat and listened to one of our special teachers that organised it all for us. After that they called the five year olds for there race and they looked all confused about what they should be doing. We all waited until the ten year old girls were called up. I was so nervous and I heard the countdown. I was ready for it. THREE, TWO, ONE, GO! I ran and was in front of everyone like a cheetah, when I crossed the finish line I was so proud of myself because I came 1st place.Do you like Cross Country?

The Mind Blowing Cricket
Today in Te Ngahere we had a person that visited our school and taught us cricket skills . I don’t really like cricket . The first thing he did was tell us the rules about cricket and how to hold the bat. We had to get into pairs, one person had to catch the ball and the other had to hit it with the bat. I was the one that had to catch the ball and it wasn’t that easy. We started playing a game that he taught us and it was called Speed Cricket. We had numbers and I was in group one and my partner Yazmin was in group two. My group had to hit the ball first and when it was my turn I was very scared and nervous. I didn’t hit it very high but it was good enough for me and I was very proud of myself. It was almost morning tea time so we had to go back to class and I actually had a great time.
