The Incredible Mind Blowing Maths DLO!

This week in Te Ngahere we've been working in groups of three and two for our maths. We are learning  about Grandfather clocks and Pendulums . The people that are included in my group are Yazmin and Isabella. Pondering Pendulums is the name of the work that we are doing. We had to make a pendulum by making it with string and a fishing sinker but instead we used a rock. A full swing is when a pendulum moves from one side to the other.  We had to measure the string of the Pendulum, because we had to try different lengths of the string for the first investigation. Here is the DLO we made hope you enjoy. Do you like Grandfather clocks?

Our Mind Blowing Mahi Toi

This week in Te Ngahere we've been doing some Mahi Toi (Art). Our goals were to draw continuous lines, draw curves, rule straight lines, select colours for effect and blend colours. The class had to watch a video for straight lines and drawing with our shoulders not with our wrist. We had to practice our designs and blending with colored pencils. Would you like to be an artist when your older?

The Extreme Te Reo Māori

This week in Te Ngahere we've been learning new Te Reo Māori kupu. We are learning how  to make a weather report about the weather here in Paihia. It was  very hard to pronounce some kupu properly. We got to play Ika and memory  with Te Reo cards about the weather and how to say the kupu . I love learning new kupu in Te Reo because it’s a very special language to New Zealand. Here is a slideshow with what the weather report is in Paihia normally. Have you said a weather report in Te Reo Māori?

This week in Te Ngahere we've been working in groups of three and two for our maths. We are learning  about Time, Mass, Length and Distance. The people that are included in my group is Yazmin and Isabella. Judgment Calls  is the name of the work that we are doing. It was very fun and interesting because we had to get a rock, string and swing it for 1 second, as well we made a mini trundle wheel that measures 0.5 metres with every complete turn.   I hope you really enjoyed my maths DLO.  Have you learnt about Mass,  Length, Distance and time before?

The Extreme Poster and Mosaic Art

This week in Te Ngahere we've been making posters, animations and mosaic art for one of our amazing teachers, Whaea Becks, she went on a long holiday. She was snowboarding in the South Island but she got very hurt and broke her pelvis, she was on crutches for a little bit. I made two things for her, a puppy mosaic art and a poster about kindness to make her feel better. I hope she really likes what I made for her, I think that she will like it because she loves dogs and puppies and I think she would love my poster. Here is my poster and mosaic art I made for her. Have you done anything similar before?

The Extreme Rocket Launch

Last week as well this week in Te Ngahere we've been launching rockets.  The reason why we are launching rockets is because it’s for the Wonder Project. I have a group of three with my two with my friends Fern, Yazmin and I.  Our rocket is made out of  1.5 litre plastic bottles and cardboard for our fins.  You are probably thinking our rockets go up to space but no just in the air.  Troy is a engineer and Gustavo  is a pomologist they come in every Wednesday, they get to see our rockets launch but not everyday. Have you made a rocket before?
